Welcome

Flowers are inherently poetic -
their beauty, their scent, their ephemeral nature.
Yet despite their short life, they bring so much joy!

There is nothing I’d rather be doing than sharing this joy, this poetry, with you.

Tiffany Banow
The floral designer, creative, and heart behind Poetica

Poetica was born out of the pursuit to live a more poetic life.

To be honest, I’m surprised I didn’t come into the floral arts sooner. As a child I could be found creating and making, or dreaming among the gardens of my family and grandmothers. There was nothing that enlivened me more than doing something creative or being outdoors. I have always held such a deep regard for nature, particularly those ethereal forms - flowers, plants, birds, the shifting of the seasons, all the colours in a sunset. It was such an innate fit into floristry! Yet, you could say I only progressively and fortuitously stumbled into floral design.

After a particularly dark period in my life I turned to poetry to escape into the beauty of words, and to try to make sense of my experiences. I found comfort among the musings of others and healing in my own pen. After some time working in the healthcare field (and dabbling in a variety of other jobs!), a stronger creative spark began to ignite. The birth of my first daughter was the catalyst to follow the fire in my heart to be with flowers.

There is poetry all around us, within us. From the most beautiful moments, to the most mundane and messy. All along the way I’m learning to find poetry in my life - in the joy, the grief, the in-between.  And I truly can’t think of anything more poetic than working with flowers!

My love affair with flowers expands beyond floristry and design. I also enjoy gardening and floral photography (and I’m quite certain I will eventually be led into painting!).

I reside in Saskatoon with my high school sweetheart, our two beautiful daughters, and two dogs.

With love + flowers,

Tiffany
